Abstract

The grid of hour lines and day curves forming this dial has been engraved on the inner surface of a large marble flower sprouting from a marble stem and calyx. A series of petals surrounds the circular opening on the oblique front. Parts of two curving tendrils, sprouting from a central point below the meridian, can be seen carved into the front surface of the dial.
