"obj_descr": "Stranamente questa meridiana sferica, molto bella nel suo stile, anche se mancante per quasi una metà, è rimasta sconosciuta. Gli autori che l’hanno divulgata attraverso un sito internet non hanno riportato l’anno in cui fu rinvenuta durante gli scavi di Paestum. Probabilmente è stata portata alla luce di recente, quasi sicuramente dopo la pubblicazione della Gibbs (che non si avrebbe fatto sfuggire questa occasione). Si tratta dell’unico esemplare ritrovato in un’area archeologica tra le piu’ importanti e molto vicina a Pompei. “La sproporzione con i ritrovamenti di Pompei e di altri siti archeologici anche meno importanti (es. Ostia e Aquileia), fa pensare che Paestum, nel corso dei secoli, abbia subito inumerevoli razzie, ma fa anche sperare in futuri ritrovamenti”, scrive Giovanni Pititto, autore del testo inserito nel sito che divulga la meridiana. La meridiana si presenta di ottima fattura e di uno stile che non è stato ancora ben definito. Quello di ricavare spazi orari in rilievo nella conca sferica è forse solo un abbellimento estetico e non è nemmeno molto comune nei tanti orologi ritrovati. Si noti a tal proposito la somiglianza di stile con la meridiana di Petra anch’essa con gli spazi orari in rilievo, sebbene diversa come manufattura architettonica. Questa bella meridiana è tronca per buona parte della superficio superiore (oltre la metà sul bordo superiore). Si contano 7 spazi orari i quali, al contrario di come scrive Pititto nel suo testo, non sono regolari “di uguale ampiezza”, come mostra evidente la foto, ma piu’ larghi nelle ore vicino al mezzogiorno e piu’ stretti tra le altre linee orarie. Forse si tratta di un tracciato non troppo preciso. Ben evidente è la curva equinoziale la cui presenza indica certamente che era presente anche quella del solstizio invernale e quindi quella del solstizio estivo corrispondente al taglio della concavità sferica inferiore. “Il Basamento, che presenta un grosso foro semicircolare, è ornato da due animali accovacciati con la testa mancante. Al centro si trova una sfera fasciata da tre anelli disposti a 120°”, è la descrizione finale di Pititto che ringrazio per le informazioni e per la gentile concessione del materiale qui pubblicato.",
