Abstract

The central shadow-receiving surface of this dial is a convex cylinder with eleven hour lines and three day curves. Ashby publishes a measured drawing by Andreas Coner which gives tw = 3 units, we = 5 1/8 units and es = 17 3/4 units. The central dial is flanked by two deviating vertical dials facing southeast and southwest. Each deviating dial has three day curves divided by five hour lines with a gnomon hole above the meridian. A calendar showing the longest day equal to fifteen hours (\phi=40.56) is engraved on the base below the dial faces.
