Abstract

Two preserved holes may have served separately or together as gnomon holders. One hole in the top of the dial is filled with lead and connected to the right edge by a groove 85 mm deep. A second hole, 10 mm wide, is situated 34 mm from the top along the right edge sloping up at an angle of 45. Six engraved hour lines, including the meridian, are preserved on this southeast-facing half of a vertical deviating dial. The equinox and two solstices do not extend beyond the first hour line. Although the dial has been squared off along the left edge, a portion of the curved border remains. The top and right edge are smoothly perpendicular to the dial face. A large engraved B is preserved at the left end of the top edge. Evidence at the junctures of the wide hour lines and the equinox indicates that the former were engraved last.
