Abstract

A rectangular gnomon hole, 52 mm long x 45 mm wide x 78 mm deep, is preserved in the top surface of this dial. A 28.5 mm long groove connects the hole with the top edge. Eleven fine hour lines and three day curves form the dial grid on this worn conical surface. Above the winter solstice, the lines continue very lightly to the gnomon groove. The oblique front ends in a cyma base. Workmanship is especially good.
