Two feet flanked the base; their upper part looked like a smiling face, the lower part like a knobbly, tripartite bone. In their middle, there was a large acanthus leaf. Gibbs: A gnomon groove is visible above the meridian line. […] Found in the ruins of a Byzantine basilica on Chios.",
