Abstract

The remains of the design of the Eastern and therefore most probably also the Western plane, show the hock of a winged lion’s leg. In the curve between wing and hock, there’s an eight-petaled rosette surrounded by a circular embossing. The base might have been set off by a simple moulding. In the middle of the frontLP, the indistinguishable remains of another circular ornament are visible. Gibbs: A rectangular gnomon hole is preserved in the top surface. […] The winged calf of an animal leg and a wheel with eight spokes are visible in the relief design on the right side.
